Besides the standard information, a Tax Identification Number (TIN) is mandatory when maiking tax revenue payments to the Tanzanian Revenue Authority. The TIN number should be instructed in the remittence field.
A clear reason / purpose of payment is recommended and consists of a full written description (in English) of the nature of payment to be provided in the remittance information. For example: providing an invoice number without guiding text is considered as insufficient and can result in errors or delays.

Transfers in favor of a government institution, agency, authority, hospital, school and university require a 12-digit Control Number. The beneficiary is responsible for obteining the Control Number from their bank. This requirement should be instructed in the remittance information and should follow a specific formatting: /ROC/12-digit Control Number
