What are cookies and why do you use them?

Cookies identify users and prepare customised Web pages for them. When you enter a Web site that uses cookies, you may be asked to provide information, such as your name and interests. This information is packaged into a cookie and sent to your Web browser, which stores it on your PC's hard drive for later use. The next time you request a page, your browser will send the cookie to the Web server. The server can use this information to present you with custom Web pages.
Aside from our literature order form, which stores your personal information in a cookie so that you don't have to provide it again the next time you place an order, the cookies this site creates do not contain any personal information. We use cookies to determine whether a page request comes from someone who has already logged on, so that we can avoid presenting duplicate information that users may have already seen.
Some browsers can be configured to warn the user whenever a site sends it a cookie. If your browser provides an edit message asking you to accept or reject the use of cookies, you should accept. Parts of the site will not work without them.

I logged on to access my account and a blank screen appeared. What should I do?

If you are experiencing difficulties with your Web browser displaying a BLANK screen or loading only part of the page, you may need to apply the Internet Explorer 5.0 patch (i.e. 5) provided by Microsoft. For your convenience we have provided a direct link to the product support area of the Microsoft Web site.
Users running the English language version of Internet Explorer 5.0 in Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 will need to download the file 3725.exe, which is located about halfway down the Microsoft page under the heading "Which File to Download". Other users should follow the instructions, which are provided on the Microsoft page to determine which file you will need to download.
